Beach Pictures 2010

This weekend we attempted to get Luke’s first beach pictures. I’ve been hoping that the oil would stay away long enough for us to get out there and get the pictures. I have beach pictures of Isabelle and Anna right around their first birthday and I really wanted them of Luke too.

Friday morning we intended to go early to get the pictures as we have found that this works best for our pictures. However, we ran late and didn’t get there until about 11 AM. IT WAS SOOOO HOT!!!!! Needless to say, we didn’t even get individuals of the girls because we were so miserable.  We decided to try again that afternoon.

It was at this time that we realized that we were under a Tropical Storm Warning and that is was going to storm. After the storm passed we drove out to try again. We got a couple of pics and then it began to rain. So we left again.

After making it back to Grandma’s house we decided we would try one more time early in the morning (like we usually did) and see if we could get some individuals of the kids.

Finally!!!!!!!! I was happy with the pictures. This is the first time ever it took us three trips to get all of the photos that we wanted.

I have to say thanks to our sister-in-law Angela who agreed to come along and take a few family shots of us.  I don’t think she knew what she was getting into.

Luke loved the beach. It was hard to get a good shot of him standing up, because all he wanted to do was sit down and dig in the dirt or try to catch the water. He had a blast! The girls did too. Oh… and I have to say…. the water was BEAUTIFUL!!!!! It was crystal clear. There was no oil hidden underneath the sand and I couldn’t have asked for prettier beaches.

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the trip…

Beautiful Isabelle

Isabelle is growing up so fast. This is her posing in her ‘beautiful’ dress. She is like me and loves the long flowy dresses.

It’s a Little Cold in Here!

This is how I found Anna one morning. Isabelle was on the trundle bed and I guess when Anna got cold she just used the pillow instead of coming to get me to cover her up.

Rushing Family Canoe Trip 2010

After much (MUCH) planning and rearranging of schedules and such…a date was settled on: July 16, 2010. The Rushing family had picked a date to go canoeing together. After the date was chosen, several more extended families were invited to join in the fun. In all, we had 23 people: the Scott Stevenson family, the Donna Zuhlke family, Billy Zuhlke, the Bill Zuhlke family, Joyce Rushing, the Steve Rushing family, the Mike Rushing family (minus the Mike), and the Will Rushing family.

On the way there we encountered a storm cloud and some drizzles and thought for few minutes that it might put a damper on the days festivities, but with great luck and gladness the rain lifted and God provided a beautiful day for our outing. After waiting for Mrs. Joyce, Steve and Angela to find their way back to Adventures Unlimited (as they passed the huge wooden sign that said, “ADVENTURES UNLIMITED” just thinking that it was affirmation that they were on the right road); we had arrived.

Our adventure began by waiting around for about 30 to 40 minutes while the fees were paid, everyone went to the potty, the tubes, paddles, and life vests were collected, and about a gallon of sun block was applied. Oh, and within 10 minutes I had received two bites from whatever insect decided that I looked the yummiest of all. After watching two groups of teenagers get on a bus (and PRAYING that we would be asked to wait for the next bus), we loaded up and drove for about ten minutes in the torturous heat of a school bus. Then we spent another 15 minutes unloading the stuff and getting in the canoes. FINALLY, we were on the water.

It was a wonderful day full of fun and food. The kids all had a blast; including the BIG ones that felt the need to jump out of trees that were hanging over the water.

Six canoes, eight tubes, 2 bottles of sun block, five ice chests, two watermelons, 23 people, and 7 hours on the water later; we were done and headed home.

Thanks to everyone who made the trip enjoyable; can’t wait to do it again next year!

Here are some pictures from the day… I tried to get at least one of everybody. I didn’t have many of Scott.

Luke Walks All the Time Now

Isabelle’s Birthday

We had four friends come over today for a small little party for Isabelle. She had a good time and we spent less. The day was a success! Here are a few pictures from the day.
